I woke up this morning exhausted and knew running a marathon in the heat would be difficult. There was no doubt in my mind that I would feel terrible out there but I also knew it would feel far worse if I didn't run. I peeled myself off the couch, took a heroic dose of caffeine, hit the road and did my best. Now that it's over, I'm proud of myself that I made the right choice. I'm starting to see days where I don't feel my best as an opportunity. Now the next time I'm struggling running or with anything else I will have another memory to draw on for strength. The prevailing thought in my head today (and most days) was if you have gotten through it before, you can get through it again. Break it down as much as needed. One more time, one more mile, one more step.
